Preview: Florida at Auburn

Auburn hosts Florida tonight at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Auburn is currently favored to win, but we’re not too confident in Auburn’s chances.

What I like: Florida has had a few bad performances this season, and hasn’t consistently played to the level their talent indicates they can. Auburn is also playing at home for the first time in 17 days.

What I don’t like: Florida is a solid team that has been playing better down the stretch. Their offense and defense are both ranked No. 36 in efficiency on KenPom. Florida also leads the SEC in field goal percentage, which could hurt an Auburn team struggling with defense. Florida has also played Auburn really well in recent years.

Bottom line: This doesn’t seem like a great matchup to me, but Auburn has the potential to get hot and score enough to keep up with Florida’s offense.

However, Florida’s offense and usually solid defense are not a good matchup for a young Auburn team giving up a lot of points.

I think this game will be close but also a comfortable win for Florida in the end.
